Schulfest 2018

School festival 2018

In bright sunshine, the gates of the school opened for this year's school festival.

That was by no means certain, because at night it stormed so hard that in the morning the whole decoration had to be rebuilt.

Incredible India was the motto of the school festival in which India, the country where we live, was celebrated. The festival was opened with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp by Count von der Schulenburg, who represented the Embassy, Mr Mirza, the Board, Mrs Rahpyma and Mrs Kratzheller for the Parents' Council, Justin Bankemper and Roman Hölscher for the SV and the Headmaster, Mr Antacido. Afterwards, the primary school choir performed the Indian national anthem and many parents sang along. Afterwards, the children of the kindergarten presented the varied costumes of the regions of India. A Bollywood dance performed by elementary school children concluded the opening ceremony.

After a refreshment with coffee and cake, the game stations that classes 5-11 had prepared opened. From crazy passport photos to a sari run and an Indian taboo, there was something for everyone. Big and small were then happily back in the yard to admire the performances of the AGs. The flute choir opened its doors and the grand finale was represented by the Taekwondo presentation: this time even burning bricks had been smashed - a special spectacle!

One mother said that I am glad that our children are not only superficially involved in India, but that, through their firm roots in the school curriculum, they are able to engage more deeply with India's culture and society.

Special thanks go to all the contributors who made the great event possible. In particular, the financial support of the EWC for dinner and the many volunteers, for which I would like to mention Ms. Kratzheller as representative, have made the festival possible!
