Social internship in grade 9
In diesem Jahr war die Organisation des Sozialpraktikums vor besondere Herausforderungen gestellt. Es galt zum einen Schwerpunktthemen zu finden, die ansprechend für eine Gruppe engagierter Mädchen sind und zum anderen den verschärften Hygienevorschriften gerecht zu werden.
Die Wahl fiel auf ein Onlineformat, in dem an zwei Hauptthemen gearbeitet wurde. Das erste Hauptthema war humanitäre Arbeit mit der Plattform ShareOn. Im zweiten Thema ging es um die existierende sexuelle Diversität in Indien.
Die Plattform ShareOn ist ein Kooperationsprojekt der Deutschen Welthungerhilfe e.V. mit der Europäischen Union, das kleinen NGO`s und Projekten das Einwerben von Spendengeldern erleichtern will.
Die Schülerinnen wurden zunächst über Webinare mit der Plattform vertraut gemacht. Anschließend erstellten sie zu zwei Projekten eine Kampagne, die später sowohl auf ShareOn als auch auf Socialmedia (Facebook und Instagram) hochgeladen wird. Betreut wurden sie dabei in täglichen Konsultationen von Aparna Lall, Kommunikationsbeauftragte bei der Deutschen Welthungerhilfe e.V..
Eines der Projekte dreht sich um die Bekämpfung von Kinderarbeit in West Bengalen und wird von der Naihati New Life Society betreut. Ein Ziel ist es den Schulbesuch für Kinder aus sozialschwachen Familien, durch die Bereitstellung von Schulmaterial und Essen, attraktiv zu machen und so Kinderarbeit zu einzudämmen. Das andere Projekt fokussiert auf eine ökologisch nachhaltige Entwicklung ländlicher Bereiche Indiens. Der durch eine Solarpilotanalge erzeugte Strom wird genutzt, um Anlagen zur Fertigung von Frauenhygieneartikeln sowie zur Herstellung von Coronaschutzmasken zu betreiben. Dieses Projekt wird durch die Organisation Life Education and Development Support” (LEADS) koordiniert.
Unsere Neutklässler legten sich bei der inhaltlichen Gestaltung der Kampagnen sowie beim Layout und der Auswahl geeigneter Bilder mächtig ins Zeug. Unterstützt wurden Sie dabei von Rohit Kumar, einem Praktikanten der Indoglobal Social Service Society (IGSSS). Darüber hinaus waren sie sehr bemüht, konstruktives Feedback zum Aufbau der Plattform ShareOn sowie zur Präsenz von ShareOn auf Facebook und Instagram zu geben.
Für den zweiten Teil des Praktikums absolvierten die Schülerinnen zunächst einen Workshop, in dem sie einen Überblick über die LGBTQIA+ -Gemeinde in Indien erhielten. Gemeinsam mit der Gründerin von Indian Aces, Frau Dr. Pragati Singh, wurde anschließend ein Peoples-Library-Event geplant und durchgeführt, auf dem Storyteller aus der LGBTQIA+ -Gemeinde interessierten Besuchern aus ihrem Leben berichteten und Fragen beantworteten.
Unsere Schülerinnen waren für den IT-Support sowie für die Unterhaltung der Besucher zum Beginn und am Ende der Veranstaltung verantwortlich und haben sich engagiert eingebracht. Natürlich konnten sich die Schülerinnen auch den Diskussionen in den verschiedenen Gesprächsräumen (Hubs) anschließen.
Den Rückmeldungen zufolge war das Praktikum eine gelungene Abwechslung vom Schulalltag und eine gute Möglichkeit mit zahlreichen Menschen aus New Delhi und anderen Teilen Indiens in Kontakt zu treten.
Besonderer Dank gebührt der Deutschen Botschaft New Delhi für die Übernahme der Schirmherrschaft für das Sozialpraktikum und die Erstellung der Zertifikate sowie den Aufsichtsführenden Kolleginnen und Kollegen, Frau Kulow, Frau Wälchli, Herr Antacido, Herr Beisel, Herr Heeke und Herr Wildfang.
This year, the organisation of the social internship was faced with special challenges. On the one hand, it was necessary to find main topics that were appealing to a group of committed girls and, on the other hand, to meet the strict hygiene regulations.
Therefore an online format in which two main topics were covered was selected. The first main topic was humanitarian work with the platform ShareOn. The second topic was about the existing sexual diversity in India.
The ShareOn platform is a cooperation project between Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. and the European Union, which aims to make it easier for small NGOs and projects to raise funds.
The students were first familiarised with the platform via webinars. Then they created a campaign for two projects, which will be later uploaded on ShareOn as well as on social media (Facebook and Instagram). They were supervised in daily consultations by Aparna Lall, Communications Officer at Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V..
One of the projects revolves around combating child labour in West Bengal and is run by the Naihati New Life Society. The aim is to make school attendance attractive for children from socially disadvantaged families by providing school materials and food. The other project focuses on environmentally sustainable development of rural areas in India. The electricity generated by a solar pilot plant is used to run equipment for the production of feminine hygiene products and corona protection masks. This project is coordinated by the organisation Life Education and Development Support (LEADS).
Our students put a lot of effort into the content of the campaigns as well as the layout and the selection of suitable pictures. They were supported by Rohit Kumar, an intern from the Indoglobal Social Service Society (IGSSS). They were also dedicated to give constructive feedback on the structure of the ShareOn platform and ShareOn's presence on Facebook and Instagram.
For the second part of the internship, the students first completed a workshop in which they received an overview of the LGBTQIA+ community in India. Together with the founder of Indian Aces, PD Pragati Singh, they then planned and achieved a Peoples Library event where storytellers from the LGBTQIA+ community told interested visitors about their lives and answered questions.
Our students were responsible for the IT-support as well as for the entertainment of the visitors at the beginning and at the end of the event. Of course, the students could also join the discussions in the different discussion rooms (hubs).
According to the feedback, the internship was a welcome change from the daily school routine and a good opportunity to get in touch with numerous people from New Delhi and other parts of India.
