During the week surrounding Dot Day on September 15, there was a very special atmosphere at the DSND primary school. Inspired by the book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds, students engaged in various subjects with the themes of creativity, courage, and collaboration.
With great joy and imagination, the children created their own musical instruments and danced together to the Dot Day Song. In art class, colorful dots inspired by Wassily Kandinsky were created, while in English class greeting cards were designed. In addition, the children learned and recited poems on the topic of friendship.
A special highlight was the project of class 3/4, who wrote letters to students at DSB in Mumbai. This exchange was initiated last year on the occasion of Dot Day and has since been carried on with great enthusiasm. It brings much joy to the children of both schools and creates valuable opportunities for connection.
On Dot Day itself, many children came to school dressed in dotted clothing, further underlining the festive atmosphere. The week concluded on September 19 with the celebration of International Children’s Day, during which all students were surprised with delicious Choco Brownies during the breakfast break.
The project week impressively demonstrated how much shared learning, creativity, and collaboration can enrich school life. The children experienced that friendship and community can grow and connect not only within their own class but also across schools and even city boundaries.
