On Friday, November 21, the annual Reading Night took place. This time, partiticipation was limited to students from Grades 4–7. By late afternoon, students were already making their sleeping area on the secondary floor cozy: fairy lights were hung, mats laid out, and a snack table prepared. While some continued to play—chair racing on teacher chairs being a particular favorite—others had already settled into their books.
After a shared pizza dinner, everyone gathered for the read-aloud session. Mrs. Tscherpel read for over an hour from “The Legend of Captain Crow´s Teeth” by Eoin Colfer. With expressive narration and a strong sense of rhythm, she drew the students into the story, in which the young protagonist must face not only ghostly pirates but also the mischievous pranks of his older brother.
The Reading Night clearly demonstrated how shared reading strengthens attention, concentration, and imagination—and how much joy there is in diving into a story together.
