Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is an important festival in Hinduism. It is celebrated according to the Hindu lunar calendar on a full moon in the month of Shravana. The festival symbolizes the special love and bond between siblings: sisters tie a blessed, colourful thread around their brothers’ wrists, mark their foreheads with a blessing, and in return, the brothers promise to protect and support their sisters.

At DSND, the primary school students celebrated this beautiful festival in their very own way. With great joy and creativity, they made bracelets, from colourful wool, sparkling beads, and Loom bands. They then gave these special bracelets to their buddies as a sign of friendship, trust, and togetherness.

Two students from class 3/4 also explained the meaning of Raksha Bandhan to the younger children. This made it clear to everyone that the bracelets are not only pretty to look at, but also a symbol of being there for one another and offering mutual support.

In the end, everyone enjoyed the colourful bracelets, the shared learning, and the cheerful atmosphere.
